Tom Zhang is a stage manager and educator originally from China. He is a Lecturer in Stage Management and Production Stage Manager at the UF School of Theatre & Dance.
His current interest of research is the application of generative A.I. in stage management practices and innovative teaching practices like Team-based learning and ungrading. His recent research outcomes include: presenting a poster on student long-term project and well-being at the UF Interface Teaching Conference '26; chairing a panel on AI & Stage Management at USITT '25; winning the Herbert D. Greggs Publication Honor Award from USITT.
He received his MFA in stage management from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
